Today was a good day! Again ‘Big’ life has been taking a predominate front seat lately, but today I had the day off and was able to spend it with one of my oldest friends. She is such a great gal with a fun loving personality and we are both able to turn into 5 year olds and be silly with the greatest of ease whenever we get together. We decided to get a bit of a change of scenery and took a day trip to a nearby city that always has something going on during the summer. We had no schedule or agenda just a sense of adventure and change of scenery. Our first stop was brunch at a popular bake shop feasting on a variety of sweet treats. Then we finally decided on going to the local heritage park. A little blast to the past complete with steam trains, old fashioned midways and interactive displays of life as early as the days of frontier forts up to the 1930’s. We trekked around the grounds exploring the trading posts, dancing to the marching bagpipe band, posing for multiple silly selfies with our traveling dinasaur in tow and just generally having the time of our life. For the first time in ages time wasn’t a factor and I can’t remember giggling so much in one day. There is no better therapy then good company and a dash of adventure.
I hadn’t been to the fort since I was a small kid and the memories had been blurred at best. But this go around was so much fun that I would happily go again! I’ll have to talk Daddy into taking me again one day.
